Match Highlights
After winning the toss, Pakistan opted to field first. Defending Champion suffered an early setback with Abhishek Sharma dismissed for a duck, but Ishan Kishan (77) and Tilak Varma (25) steadied the innings. Despite slipping to 126/4 — including the dismissal of Hardik Pandya for zero — skipper Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Rinku Singh provided a strong finish to power India to 175/7. Saim Ayub (3/25) was Pakistan’s most effective bowler.
In reply, Pakistan’s batting line-up faltered early, collapsing to 34/4 following strikes from Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Axar Patel. Usman Khan offered resistance with 44 off 34 balls, but Pakistan were eventually bowled out for 114 in 18 overs.
Pandya (2/16) led India’s bowling effort, while Bumrah (2/17), Axar Patel (2/29), and Varun Chakaravarthy (2/17) also contributed with key wickets.
With the victory, India remain at the top of Group A with three wins from three matches. Pakistan are currently third with two wins and one loss, while the United States sit second in the standings.
The result also extended India’s dominance over Pakistan in T20 World Cup history, improving their head-to-head record in the tournament to 8-1.
