Mumbai: On the occasion of India’s 79th Independence Day, actor Sunny Deol took to social media to reveal the first-look motion poster of his upcoming war drama, Border 2. The film, a sequel to the 1997 cult classic Border, is set to release worldwide on January 22, 2026.
In a powerful tribute to the Indian armed forces, the motion poster features Sunny Deol donning an Indian Army uniform, gripping a bazooka with a determined gaze—ready once again to embody the spirit of a fearless soldier. Sharing the poster on Instagram, the actor captioned it: “Hindustan ke liye ladenge… phir ek baar! #Border2 hits theatres on Jan 22, 2026.”
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 brings together a stellar cast including Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and Sonam Bajwa. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar and veteran filmmaker J.P. Dutta, who helmed the original Border.
Producer Bhushan Kumar described the project as more than just a film. “Border is an emotion that resonates with every Indian. With Border 2, we aim to carry forward that legacy and connect with a new generation. Releasing the film during the extended Republic Day weekend allows audiences across the country to come together for this patriotic tribute,” he said in a press statement.
Director Anurag Singh called it a privilege to helm the sequel. “Announcing the film on Independence Day is symbolic. This day reflects the courage and sacrifice of our soldiers, which lies at the heart of our story. It’s a true honour to pay tribute to their spirit through Border 2,” he added.
Border 2 is presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series, in association with J.P. Dutta’s J.P. Films.
