SIT Searches for Bhavani Revanna in Woman Kidnap Case

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is actively searching for Bhavani Revanna, mother of suspended JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, in connection with a kidnapping and sexual abuse case.

The Aryavarth Express
Agency (New Delhi): The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been conducting searches at various locations over the past 24 hours in an effort to locate Bhavani Revanna, mother of suspended JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna. Bhavani is wanted in connection with a woman kidnapping case linked to allegations of sexual abuse against her son. According to sources, she was not found at her residence in Holenarasipura, Hassan district.

Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara confirmed that a search is underway to arrest Bhavani, who is currently absconding. He stated, “They (Special Investigation Team) are searching for her (Bhavani) to arrest her. It’s not known where she is. She will be arrested once she is found. It is a due process of law and nothing else.”

The SIT had issued a notice to Bhavani, instructing her to be present at her home on June 1 for questioning. However, when the SIT team arrived at her house, ‘Chennambika Nilaya,’ she was not present. Two women lawyers met with SIT officials at the residence on Saturday evening but did not disclose the purpose of their visit. Bhavani communicated through her lawyers that she was unwell and would appear before the SIT shortly.

Bhavani’s husband, Holenarasipura JD(S) MLA H.D. Revanna, is out on bail in the same case. The SIT has conducted searches in Mysuru, Hassan, Bengaluru, Mandya, and Ramanagara, including at the homes of Bhavani’s relatives, but she remains unlocated. Multiple SIT teams have been constituted to track her down.

Prajwal Revanna was arrested following allegations of sexually abusing several women. The controversy involving the JD(S) first family, especially former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda’s son H.D. Revanna, his wife Bhavani, and their son Prajwal, intensified after explicit videos surfaced on April 21. Prajwal, who is seeking re-election from the Hassan Lok Sabha segment as an NDA candidate, fled to Germany but returned to India on Friday. He was immediately arrested by the SIT at Bengaluru airport and has been remanded to police custody until June 6 by a special court in the city.

The Karnataka government formed the SIT to investigate the allegations against Prajwal based on a recommendation from Karnataka State Commission for Women chairperson Nagalakshmi Chowdhary, who urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to look into the matter.
