Siddaramaiah Assures SIT Autonomy in Revanna Case

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah asserts the Special Investigation Team probing Prajwal Revanna's case will operate without government interference, countering allegations of bias.

The Aryavarth Express
Agency (Karnataka): Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday strongly defended the independence and impartiality of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) tasked with investigating serious allegations against Hassan JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna. The chief minister responded to claims by BJP leader and lawyer G Devaraje Gowda that the SIT is merely a puppet of the state government.

Siddaramaiah refuted these allegations, describing them as baseless and a tactic to obstruct the investigation and shield the accused. He emphasized that the state government would not meddle in the SIT’s proceedings, which are focused on charges of sexual exploitation involving a significant number of women. This assertion comes in the wake of nearly 3,000 video clips surfacing, which purportedly involve Revanna.

The situation has escalated with the issuance of a blue corner notice against Prajwal Revanna, who is currently abroad, by Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara. This notice seeks to locate and potentially detain Revanna for his alleged involvement in sexual harassment cases.

Adding to the family’s legal woes, Revanna’s father, HD Revanna, a JD(S) MLA from Holenarasipura, has been arrested on charges of molestation and kidnapping, highlighting the severity of the accusations faced by the family.
