New Delhi (Agency): Raksha Rajya Mantri, Shri Ajay Bhatt, made a significant visit to DRDO’s Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE) in Avadi, Chennai, on September 5, 2023. During his visit, he engaged with the scientists at CVRDE and assessed the progress of ongoing projects, demonstrating a keen interest in the advanced systems developed by the laboratory.
Raksha Rajya Mantri took this opportunity to express his appreciation for the unwavering dedication and significant contributions of CVRDE in advancing defense systems. He emphasized the importance of self-reliance in research and development (R&D) systems, highlighting its role in strengthening India’s defense capabilities. Furthermore, he commended DRDO’s efforts in promoting the ‘Make in India’ initiative, which encourages domestic production and self-sufficiency in defense technology.
As part of his visit, RRM had the unique experience of riding in the Main Battle Tank (Arjun Mk I A), gaining firsthand knowledge of the advanced features and capabilities of this indigenously developed tank.
