Pune Porsche Case: Blood Sample Swap Exposed

Forensic report reveals blood sample swap in Pune Porsche case; teen's parents' custody extended amid ongoing investigation.

Agency (New Delhi): A forensic laboratory report has confirmed that the blood samples of a 17-year-old driver involved in a fatal Porsche crash in Pune were replaced with his mother’s, police informed a court on June 5. The sessions court has extended the police custody of the teen’s parents until June 10 at the request of the police.

The crash, which occurred on May 19, resulted in two fatalities. The investigation revealed that two doctors and an employee of Pune’s Sassoon General Hospital were arrested last month for allegedly substituting the minor’s blood samples to indicate that he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. It is alleged that one of the doctors had contact with the teen’s father.

The teen’s mother was arrested on conspiracy charges on June 1. Police presented the minor’s parents, the two doctors, and the hospital employee before the court after their initial custody period ended. The court extended the custody of the doctors and the hospital employee until June 7.

Police have also filed an application with the Juvenile Justice Board seeking a 14-day extension of the remand for the 17-year-old, who is currently held at an observation home. His remand is set to expire on Wednesday.
