Agency (Chattisgarh): In a recent public rally in Chirmiri, Chhattisgarh, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed strong criticism towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that the party primarily promotes two types of leaders: those who are corrupt and those who ignore the public’s welfare. This rally was part of her campaign efforts for Jyotsana Mahant, the Congress candidate from the Korba Lok Sabha seat.

Priyanka Gandhi alleged that the BJP has a strategy of recruiting leaders from other parties who have corruption charges against them. According to her, these leaders are coerced into joining the BJP, where their legal troubles mysteriously vanish, effectively “cleaning” their reputations. She contrasted this with the BJP’s second type of promoted leaders, who she claims avoid discussing real issues such as price rises and other everyday challenges facing the public.

In contrast, Priyanka Gandhi highlighted the Congress party’s approach, which she stated focuses on promoting leaders who truly understand and serve the people’s needs. She emphasized that the Congress evaluates its leaders based on their dedication to public service and their perception of the people’s supremacy.

Furthermore, she referred to the Congress party’s manifesto for the current election cycle, named ‘Nyay Patra’ (Document of Justice), suggesting that it aims to address the injustices she claims have been perpetrated under the Narendra Modi government over the past decade. She accused the current government of favoring industrialists and big business at the expense of the common people.

Priyanka Gandhi also criticized the BJP’s welfare schemes, particularly the distribution of 5 kilograms of ration per family, which she argues is a tactic to make the populace dependent rather than self-sufficient. She urged the electorate to demand jobs instead of just rations, highlighting the issue of 30 lakh vacant government positions that need to be filled.

Her comments come at a critical time as the state of Chhattisgarh prepares for the third phase of the general elections on May 7, where seven Lok Sabha seats, including Korba, are at stake. The outcomes in these regions could significantly influence the overall results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
