New Delhi (Agency): In New Delhi, three men were taken into custody after being discovered with 15 pistols meant for criminals, as reported by the police on Monday. The individuals under arrest were identified as Prashant Meena, aged 21, Kamal Meena, aged 27, both from Dholpur in Rajasthan, and 23-year-old Gagan Saraswat from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh. The police reported finding nine semi-automatic pistols with 18 magazines and six single-shot pistols among their possessions.

The police stated that the firearms were intended for delivery to criminals and arms traffickers in Delhi, the National Capital Region (NCR), Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh (UP), and Punjab.

Acting on a tip received last Friday, the police learned of an upcoming meeting between two members of an arms syndicate and a UP-based arms trafficker. The group planned to exchange a consignment of pistols near Vayu Sena Vihar on Suraj Kund Road in Delhi.

The police positioned themselves at the intended location in south Delhi’s Sangam Vihar around 4.10 pm. The police arrested the trio – Prashant, Kamal, and Saraswat – as soon as they met there, as per Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), HGS Dhaliwal.

During questioning, the accused confessed they had obtained the pistols from an arms dealer in Khargone and planned to distribute them to criminals in Delhi, UP, Punjab, and Rajasthan.

Past criminal records showed that Prashant had been involved in five cases in UP and Rajasthan, while Kamal had two cases under the NDPS Act in Rajasthan. Shockingly, they revealed that over the past two years, they had supplied 300 pistols from Madhya Pradesh to criminals in Delhi and neighboring states.
