MP Government and UNFPA Launch AI Chatbot for Youth’s Sexual Health

New Delhi (Aryavarth): The Madhya Pradesh government, in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), has introduced an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled chatbot to address the crucial requirement for accurate and easily accessible information on social issues and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for adolescents and young adults. The chatbot, called ‘Just Ask/Khulke Poochho,’ was launched by MP Health Minister Prabhuram Choudhary and UNFPA India Representative Andrea M Wojnar.

The ‘Just Ask’ digital engagement platform aims to provide users with answers to questions related to various topics such as puberty, reproductive health, gender identity, family planning, and more. The chatbot engages users in interactive conversations and delivers accurate information within minutes, free of cost. The user experience is designed to be safe, personalized, multilingual, and empathetic. The chatbot features two role models, Dhruv and Drishti, who communicate information in a simple and relatable manner. The content is supplemented with engaging infographics to enhance comprehension and user experience.

Additionally, the ‘Just Ask’ chatbot connects adolescents and young people to Adolescent Friendly Health Clinics (AFHCs), government health facilities, and helplines. It serves as a convenient and accessible resource for young individuals seeking reliable information about their sexual and reproductive health.

Madhya Pradesh Health Minister Prabhuram Choudhary praised the AI-enabled chatbot as a significant achievement for the state, providing a platform where important questions can be asked and solutions can be provided with just a mobile phone. UNFPA India Representative Andrea M Wojnar emphasized the importance of safe and non-judgmental spaces for young people to access reliable information in the age of abundant yet sometimes unreliable data. The chatbot’s digitally forward concept ensures that health and well-being are easily accessible to the next generation, using the most popular mode of communication.

The launch of the ‘Just Ask/Khulke Poochho’ chatbot marks a significant step in promoting sexual and reproductive health education among adolescents and young adults in Madhya Pradesh. By leveraging AI and digital technology, the chatbot provides a convenient and confidential platform for young individuals to seek information and guidance regarding their social and sexual health. The initiative aims to equip and empower the youth with accurate knowledge, enabling them to make informed decisions and lead healthier lives.
