Heavy Rainfall Causes Blockage of 112 Roads in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla (Agency): Himachal Pradesh has been grappling with the aftermath of heavy rainfall, with 112 roads, including National Highway 305, being blocked due to the downpour, as reported by the State Emergency Operation Centre. Additionally, 12 water supply schemes have been disrupted, and one fire incident has been recorded within the past 24 hours, according to government data.

Since the onset of the monsoon season on June 24, an average of around seven individuals per day have lost their lives in rain-related incidents within the hilly state. Himachal Pradesh has been experiencing relentless heavy rainfall over the past few weeks, resulting in significant loss of life and property due to landslides, cloudbursts, and flash floods.

The impact of the heavy rainfall has been severe, with a total of 397 people losing their lives in rain-related incidents. Among them, 143 people have lost their lives due to landslides, flash floods, and cloudbursts. The government also reported that 370 individuals have sustained injuries, while 39 people are still missing.

The state authorities are actively working to address the challenges posed by the ongoing rainfall and its consequences, including road blockages, disrupted water supply, and the need for relief efforts to assist those affected by the rain-related incidents.
