Agency (Karnataka): Suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna, who faces sexual abuse charges, is scheduled to arrive in Bengaluru on Friday, May 31, from Munich. According to PTI, sources within the Special Investigation Team (SIT) confirmed that Revanna has booked his flight from Germany and will be met by the investigation team at Kempegowda airport, prepared to arrest him upon his arrival.
Two days prior, Revanna released a video message pledging to appear before the SIT on May 31 and cooperate with the ongoing investigation into the sexual abuse allegations against him. In his message, Revanna stated, “All I want to say is, without discussing much about right or wrong…you are a public representative, you must face it (probe) boldly. Several doubts have emerged in the last one-and-a-half years. Prajwal has to put an end to it and has to join the investigation. He has also agreed to appear before the Special Investigation Team. I welcome it,” BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra remarked, expressing approval of Revanna’s decision to return to India and participate in the investigation.
Revanna had previously canceled his flight twice from Germany after the Karnataka State Commission for Women urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to investigate explicit videos allegedly showing him sexually assaulting several women.
In a related development, the SIT arrested two individuals on Tuesday for allegedly circulating pen drives containing explicit videos purportedly involving Prajwal Revanna. According to police sources, these individuals were apprehended when they arrived at the High Court in Bengaluru and were subsequently taken in for interrogation.
Furthermore, the SIT has moved the Karnataka High Court to challenge the bail granted to JD(S) MLA and Prajwal’s father, H.D. Revanna, who is also accused of sexual harassment and kidnapping. H.D. Revanna, who was arrested on May 4 and held in custody until May 8, was granted bail by the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate on a bond of Rs 5 lakh. The High Court is expected to hear the SIT’s application against this bail on Friday, May 31.
