Daring Heist: Pseudo Cops Steal Crores from Courier Vehicle

In Thane, Maharashtra, eight individuals impersonating police officers stole Rs 5.4 crore from a courier company's car during a meticulously planned heist.

Agency(Maharashtra): In an audacious act of deception, eight individuals, masquerading as police officers, intercepted and robbed a courier company’s vehicle in Maharashtra’s Thane district, making away with Rs 5.4 crore. The incident occurred on the night between March 14 and March 15, as the vehicle was transporting cash from Jalgaon to Mumbai.

The robbers, traveling in an Innova, forced the courier vehicle to stop near Atgaon in Thane. Under the guise of law enforcement, some of the imposters boarded the courier car, redirecting it off the main road. Leveraging the guise of conducting a search, they seized two gunny bags filled with cash totaling Rs 5.4 crore and quickly fled the scene.

Upon receiving the report of the incident, the Shahapur police promptly registered a case on March 17. The charges against the eight unidentified individuals include impersonating a public servant, wrongful restraint, and cheating, all violations under the Indian Penal Code.

This cunning robbery has triggered an intensive investigation, as authorities work to identify and apprehend the culprits behind this significant financial theft. The case has drawn attention to the risks faced by courier services transporting large sums of money and the importance of stringent security measures to prevent such heists.
