New Delhi (Agency): In connection with the recent communal clashes in Nuh, cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi was arrested and sent to 14-day judicial custody on Thursday. The arrest came after a fresh FIR (First Information Report) was filed against him, following allegations of misconduct and threats against a police team.

Bajrangi, also known as Raj Kumar, was produced in a Nuh court and subsequently sent to judicial custody in Neemka jail in Faridabad district. A senior police officer confirmed the information.

Nuh Police revealed that eight swords were found in Bajrangi’s possession. According to the FIR, Bajrangi and some of his unidentified supporters were identified through social media posts. They were accused of misbehaving with and threatening Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Usha Kundu and her team, who had stopped them while they were carrying swords and ‘trishuls’ (a type of traditional weapon) to Nalhar temple.

The arrest came two days after Bajrangi had been taken into custody by Faridabad Police for his involvement in the communal clashes. He was released on bail after cooperating with the investigation. The accusations against him included making inflammatory speeches and openly displaying weapons in public.

In her formal complaint, ASP Kundu described the incident in detail: “I was on duty with my team 300 metres away from the Nalhar temple. We saw a mob of around 20 people carrying swords and trishuls marching to Nalhar temple. To maintain law and order, my team snatched and seized their weapons.” She further explained how the mob resisted, chanting slogans against the police, physically assaulting them, and even taking back their confiscated weapons from police vehicles.

Kundu’s account continued, “We kept their weapons in our vehicles, but they went ahead and squatted in front of vehicles. Soon after they opened the rear gates of our official vehicle and fled with weapons. Bittu and others who had misbehaved with us and threatened to kill us were identified in the footage.”

The arrest of Bittu Bajrangi represents an ongoing effort by law enforcement to maintain peace and order in the region. The communal clashes in Nuh have drawn significant attention, and authorities are actively working to address the situation.

The incident also raises questions about the role of vigilante groups and their influence in the area. The authorities’ ability to control such groups and prevent them from taking law enforcement into their own hands will be crucial in maintaining stability and ensuring that justice is served.

Bajrangi’s arrest and subsequent custody signal a strong message that actions involving threats, violence, and public display of weapons will not be tolerated. The case will likely continue to unfold as further investigations are conducted, and it remains to be seen what additional legal actions may be taken against Bajrangi and his associates.
