Congress Fires 10 Questions at PM Modi, Shah in Revanna ‘Obscene Videos’ Case

Congress attacks PM Modi and Amit Shah, raises 10 questions in Prajwal Revanna obscene video case.

The Aryavarth Express
Agency (Karnataka): In a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Congress party has demanded answers to “10 questions” regarding the alleged obscene video case involving NDA candidate and Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna in Karnataka. The party has accused the BJP of shielding a “mass rapist” and failing to take appropriate action in the matter.

During a joint press conference in Belagavi, Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala alleged that PM Modi and Janata Dal (Secular) leaders were protecting Prajwal Revanna, despite being aware of the serious allegations against him. Surjewala claimed that a BJP leader had approached Modi and Shah with evidence of Revanna’s wrongdoings in December 2023, yet the BJP chose to ally with the JD(S) and make Revanna their candidate.

Surjewala posed a series of pointed questions to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, questioning their decision to join hands with the JD(S), their failure to disclose the truth about Revanna, and their alleged inaction in preventing the accused from fleeing the country. He also questioned why Revanna’s diplomatic passport had not been canceled and why the CBI had not acted on the SIT’s requests to bring him back and issue an Interpol notice.

The Congress leader further asked who should take responsibility for bringing a “mass rapist” back to the country – the state or the central government. He accused Modi and Shah of merely engaging in a blame game against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, instead of taking concrete action.

Surjewala emphasized that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had sought justice for the victims and had written to the Chief Minister to ensure the same. He urged PM Modi and Amit Shah to answer the “10 questions” raised by the Congress party.

The case took a new turn on Saturday evening when Prajwal Revanna’s father, HD Revanna, was arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with a related kidnapping case. Prajwal Revanna, who is currently believed to be in Germany, has been booked under various sections of the IPC, including charges of sexual harassment, intimidation, and outraging the dignity of a woman. A lookout notice has been issued against him.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara stated that the SIT has been given full freedom to deliver justice and is proceeding as per procedure. He confirmed that a blue-corner notice has been issued to locate Prajwal Revanna, and the SIT will take the necessary steps to bring him back to India.

Deputy CM DK Shivakumar refrained from commenting on the matter, stating that the law will take its course and that he was focused on the ongoing election campaign.

Earlier this month, Amit Shah had criticized the Congress government in Karnataka for allegedly delaying action in the case while claiming that the BJP stands with the ‘Matr Shakti’ of the country. However, the Congress party has now turned the tables, accusing the BJP of hypocrisy and demanding answers from the top leadership.
