New Delhi (Agency): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Siddu Savadi has accused the terrorist organization ISIS of being behind the brutal murder of Jain monk Kamakumar Nandi Maharaj. Savadi has demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the case, emphasizing that such a heinous crime could not have been committed by Indians. The murder, marked by extreme violence with the monk being electrocuted, dismembered, and discarded in a borewell, has left the Jain community deeply concerned about their safety.
The Karnataka government, however, has rejected the demand for a CBI investigation. Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge asserts that the murder appears to be a result of a personal feud rather than a community issue. Kharge accuses the BJP of communalizing the murder, stating that the Jain community is satisfied with the state government’s inquiry. Meanwhile, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi condemns the murder as highly condemnable.
The Jain monk’s body parts were discovered in a defunct borewell in Chikkodi, Belagavi district, on July 8. The manager of the ashram had reported him missing, and two individuals have been arrested in connection with the crime. BJP MLA Abhay Patil suspects a deep-rooted conspiracy and demands a CBI inquiry, expressing distrust in the current government’s ability to deliver justice.
While the BJP continues to push for a CBI investigation, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara asserts that such a probe is unnecessary. He meets with Gunadhar Nandhi Maharaj, another Jain seer, prior to his visit to Chikkodi.
The murder of Kamakumar Nandi Maharaj has raised serious concerns about the safety and security of Jain monks.
