Jodhpur (Rajasthan): Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Indian Army’s Southern Command, visited the Jodhpur Sub Area on Wednesday to assess its operational preparedness and ongoing readiness initiatives.
During the visit, Lt Gen Seth commended the formation for its strong performance during Operation Sindoor, particularly highlighting its effective ammunition management and robust logistics support. He also appreciated the unit’s ability to sustain multidimensional operational commitments through its Ammunition Echelons, Field Ammunition Depot (FAD), Supply Depots and Advanced Base Ordnance Depot (ABOD).
Sharing details of the visit on X, the Indian Army’s Southern Command stated that the Army Commander reviewed key aspects of preparedness and praised the formation’s professionalism and efficiency in logistics and operational support.
Lt Gen Seth further lauded the Jodhpur Sub Area for streamlining its logistics and administrative systems, maintaining a high level of readiness for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations, and working in close coordination with central and state agencies. He described these efforts as a strong example of effective military-civil fusion delivering tangible results on the ground.
In addition, the Army Commander appreciated initiatives aimed at strengthening the soldier-citizen connect, conducting outreach programmes for veterans, and accelerating critical infrastructure projects, underscoring the formation’s contribution to nation-building.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army, under the aegis of Spear Corps, has launched an Eco-Tourism Exposure Tour from Along Military Station in Arunachal Pradesh as part of efforts to promote youth empowerment and sustainable development in border areas.
According to an official release, the initiative involves students from NEFTU College, Aalo, in West Siang district, and is designed to enhance practical skills while creating livelihood opportunities linked to eco-tourism. Ahead of the tour, a three-day homestay and eco-tourism training programme was conducted at Aalo, where 30 students and two instructors were introduced to the basics of community-based tourism, responsible travel practices, and the economic potential of eco-tourism in Arunachal Pradesh.
