The Aryavarth Express:
Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh), March 27: Security arrangements have been significantly strengthened in Ayodhya as large numbers of devotees gathered at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple on Friday to offer prayers on Navami, the ninth and final day of Chaitra Navratri.
According to Praveen Kumar, extensive security measures have been put in place to manage the surge in pilgrims. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation using drones and a widespread network of CCTV cameras.
“Devotees have been arriving in large numbers to offer prayers at the temple. Proper security arrangements have been made, and surveillance is being carried out through drones and CCTV systems,” Kumar told.
The nine-day festival, also referred to as Ram Navratri, concludes with Ram Navami, which marks the birth of Lord Rama. The festival is observed across India with devotion, with each day dedicated to different forms of Goddess Shakti.
Ayodhya, regarded as the birthplace of Lord Rama, witnesses especially grand celebrations on Ram Navami, drawing pilgrims from across the country.
During the Navratri period, devotees observe fasts and follow a disciplined lifestyle that includes abstaining from alcohol and non-vegetarian food, while focusing on prayer, meditation, and spiritual reflection.
Meanwhile, in West Bengal, authorities have issued strict guidelines ahead of Ram Navami processions. Police have prohibited the carrying of weapons and other restricted items to ensure peaceful celebrations.
Vidyagar Ajinkya Anant said that coordination meetings have been held with organisers. “No weapons or such items are permitted. Strict action will be taken against anyone violating the rules,” he stated.
