New Delhi (Agency): A two-day workshop focused on advanced endoscopy training was recently held at VGM Hospital in Coimbatore. Dr. VG Mohan Prasad, the chairman of the hospital, spoke about the many benefits of this medical event for doctors, patients, and the general public.

According to Dr. VG Mohan Prasad, around 40 types of surgeries can be done using endoscopy, a procedure where a small camera is used to look inside the body. This workshop had “reputed international and national faculty members” performing complex surgeries. These surgeries were not only helpful for patients but also served as a “training guide for therapeutic endoscopists.”

What made this event even more special was the live transmission of different complex surgeries. Dr. Prasad said this live sharing was an “excellent opportunity for young doctors to get hands-on training.” He also mentioned that it would help the general public understand and learn about endoscopy.

Experts from various parts of the world participated in the workshop. Truptesh Kothari and Shivangi Kothari from the USA, Christopher Jen Lock Khor and Ravishankar Asokkumar from Singapore, Amal Priyantha from Colombo in Sri Lanka, and Bickram Pradhan from Nepal were among the leading experts present.

The workshop had practical sessions where different endoscopy procedures were shown on models. These demonstrations helped train doctors in a way that is close to real-life surgeries. Experts guided them through each step, ensuring a detailed and effective training session.

This workshop wasn’t just for medical professionals. Dr. Prasad emphasized that the general public could also benefit from it. People often hear about medical terms like endoscopy but don’t know much about what it involves. This event helped to show what endoscopy is and how it helps in different treatments. It aims to create more awareness about this medical procedure among ordinary people.
