Darbhanga: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today launched the ‘Shiksha Nyay Samvad’ initiative in Darbhanga, Bihar, marking the beginning of a statewide campaign focused on education and youth empowerment ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

Rahul Gandhi departed from his residence in New Delhi earlier today to kick off the campaign in Bihar. The Congress party, in a social media post on X, announced the initiative with the slogan:
“Education justice begins in Bihar from May 15! Rahul Gandhi is bringing ‘Shiksha Nyay Samvad’… a voice for the rights of the youth! Now students will get their degrees on time and secure jobs! No more debt – just your rights based on your talent!”

The campaign is set against the backdrop of recent protests and unrest over the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Teacher Recruitment Exam (TRE) 3.0. On May 7, police used force against candidates protesting outside Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s residence, demanding action on result discrepancies and unfilled vacancies.

Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar announced in a press conference on Wednesday that the ‘Shiksha Nyay Samvad’ would be part of a broader state-wide outreach, the ‘Nyay Samvad’ initiative, starting May 15. The campaign will focus on key issues such as education, employment, representation, and social justice. It aims to gather input from diverse communities to help draft a ‘Nyay Patra’—a justice manifesto—for the upcoming elections.

Rahul Gandhi is also expected to visit universities, colleges, and student hostels in Darbhanga to directly interact with students and hear their concerns.

Earlier, on April 7, Gandhi had joined the Congress student wing NSUI’s ‘Palayan Roko Naukri Do’ rally in Begusarai, another move signalling the party’s focus on youth and employment issues in the state.

The Bihar Assembly elections for all 243 constituencies are scheduled for October-November 2025. The last election was held in the same period in 2020.
