Amritsar: In a series of coordinated operations, Punjab Police have successfully busted multiple high-profile criminal networks, including a terror module linked to Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), an international arms smuggling ring, and a narco-hawala cartel.
BKI Terror Module Busted
In a major operation, Amritsar Commissionerate Police dismantled a terror module affiliated with the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). The module was reportedly being operated by UK-based handler Dharam Singh alias Dharma Sandhu, a known associate of Pakistan-based terrorist Harvinder Rinda. Police apprehended local operative Onkar Singh and seized six sophisticated pistols, including four Glock 9mm handguns and two PX5 (.30 bore) pistols. An FIR has been registered, and further investigations are underway.
International Arms Smuggling Ring Exposed
In a separate intelligence-led operation, Amritsar Rural Police uncovered an international arms smuggling network linked to Italy-based Gurpreet Singh alias Gopy. The module was working in coordination with Pakistani smugglers. Four operatives were arrested and nine illegal firearms were recovered. A case under the Arms Act and NDPS Act has been registered at Gharinda Police Station. Authorities are investigating supply routes and identifying overseas handlers.
Narco-Hawala Cartel Busted
In another breakthrough, Amritsar Commissionerate Police busted a narco-hawala cartel allegedly run by jailed gangster Arshdeep, currently incarcerated at Goindwal Jail. Acting on precise intelligence, police arrested six operatives and seized 4.526 kg of heroin and ₹8.7 lakh in cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug trafficking. Investigations indicate that Arshdeep managed the network through associates Jaspreet and Karan, with operatives Karan, Gurmeet, and Rajinderpal overseeing local distribution of cross-border drug consignments.
Punjab Police Commitment
DGP Punjab emphasized that the operations reflect the police force’s ongoing commitment to dismantling terror networks, disrupting transnational smuggling operations, and maintaining peace and security across the state.
