The Aryavarth Express New Delhi [India]: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has called for a discussion in Parliament on the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Speaking to reporters on Monday, she said that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Lok Sabha on the situation, a full debate would allow the opposition to present its perspective.
“He has informed the country about the situation. There should be a discussion in Parliament so that we can also present our views,” Priyanka Gandhi said.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi highlighted in Lok Sabha the significant challenges the conflict poses for India, including economic, national security, and humanitarian concerns. He emphasized that India has extensive trade ties with the affected region, which is also a key route for global trade and a major supplier of crude oil and gas.
To mitigate supply risks, Modi stated that the government has prioritized domestic LPG consumers, increased domestic LPG production, and ensured smooth petrol and diesel distribution. He also noted that India holds strategic petroleum reserves of over 5.3 million metric tons.
Opposition MPs have consistently urged a parliamentary discussion on the US-Israel-Iran conflict and its implications for India’s energy security.
