President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday extended her heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all Indians on the eve of New Year 2026, wishing peace, happiness, and prosperity for the year ahead.
In an official message, the President said the New Year symbolises renewed energy and positive change, while also serving as a moment for self-reflection and fresh resolutions. She urged citizens to strengthen their commitment to national development, social harmony, and environmental protection.
“On the joyous occasion of the New Year, I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to all Indians in the country and abroad. The New Year symbolises renewed energy and positive change. It is also an opportunity for self-reflection and fresh resolutions,” the President said.
“May the year 2026 bring peace, happiness, and prosperity into our lives and infuse new energy to build a stronger and more prosperous India,” she added.
Earlier, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also conveyed his warm greetings to the nation on the occasion. He described the New Year as more than a change of calendar, calling it a time for renewed resolve, constructive change, and continuous self-improvement.
“In the advent of New Year 2026, I convey my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all. May the coming year usher in new dreams, renewed enthusiasm, fresh possibilities, and abundant happiness in everyone’s life,” Birla said.
He urged citizens to work collectively for positive transformation, emphasising that personal progress should go hand in hand with meaningful contributions to nation-building. Birla also highlighted the importance of promoting indigenous products, calling Swadeshi a strong pillar of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The Lok Sabha Speaker further encouraged citizens to study the Constitution, understand its core ideals of justice, equality, liberty, rights, and duties, and reflect these values in daily conduct. He said that if citizens move forward together with determination and discipline, 2026 would add a golden chapter to both individual lives and the nation’s destiny.
Meanwhile, as the national capital prepares to welcome New Year 2026, the Delhi Police has announced comprehensive security arrangements to ensure safe and orderly celebrations across the city.
