Video of BJP Candidate’s Remark on Mamata Banerjee Sparks Controversy

A video allegedly showing BJP candidate Abhijit Gangopadhyay making derogatory remarks about CM Mamata Banerjee has caused an uproar, with TMC condemning it and BJP questioning its authenticity.

The Aryavarth Express
Agency (New Delhi): A purported video has surfaced, in which Tamluk BJP candidate and former Calcutta High Court judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay is allegedly heard making derogatory remarks about West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The video sparked a controversy, with the Trinamool Congress (TMC) accusing the BJP of disrespecting women and demanding action from the Election Commission.

TMC leader Santanu Sen criticized Gangopadhyay’s remarks, stating, “It is shameful that a former judge who is now a BJP candidate uses such words to malign a woman chief minister. This is the guarantee of the BJP that women under BJP rule will be insulted in this way.”

In response, BJP spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya dismissed the video as fake, alleging it was a TMC ploy to malign the BJP. “We don’t agree with the existence of any such videos. This is a ploy by the TMC to release fake videos and malign the BJP. But that won’t make any difference in the elections,” Bhattacharya said.
