Telangana CM Clashes with Central Leaders Over Reservations

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy accuses PM Modi and HM Amit Shah of revenge for challenging BJP's alleged anti-reservation stance.

The Aryavarth Express
Agency (Telangana): Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has intensified his critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of harboring a vengeful attitude towards him. This accusation comes in response to Reddy’s opposition to the BJP’s purported plans to scrap reservations, a policy designed to help disadvantaged groups in India.

During an election rally in Nizamabad, Reddy revealed that a legal case had been initiated against him in Delhi, instigated by the Union Home Ministry. This move followed his vocal criticisms of the BJP’s policies and leadership, which he believes are aimed at undermining Telangana’s autonomy and interests in favor of Gujarati dominance.

Reddy’s confrontation has escalated following police summons related to his dissemination of a ‘doctored’ video involving Amit Shah, which has been circulated on social media. The Chief Minister’s bold statements underline a broader conflict in the Lok Sabha elections, portraying it as a struggle between regional pride and national control.

In his speech, he also lamented the central government’s neglect of Telangana’s developmental needs, such as the establishment of a steel plant and a rail coach factory, promised under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of 2014. This neglect, according to Reddy, exemplifies the central government’s disregard for Telangana’s rights and development.

The state BJP president, Kishan Reddy, has countered CM Reddy’s claims, demanding an apology and the retraction of his statements about the BJP abolishing reservations, citing a breach of ethical conduct.

The escalating tension highlights the charged atmosphere as Telangana approaches the polls for its 17 Lok Sabha seats on May 13, with both local and national implications hanging in the balance.
