Savadi Criticizes BJP’s Electoral Decisions

Laxman Savadi claims BJP mistreats Jagadish Shettar and the late Suresh Angadi's family in Lok Sabha election nominations.

The Aryavarth Express
Agency(New Delhi): Laxman Savadi, the former Deputy Chief Minister, has openly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its handling of candidate nominations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, specifically targeting the treatment of Jagadish Shettar and the family of the late Suresh Angadi.

During a press meet in Athani on Monday, Savadi voiced his discontent with the party’s decision-making process. He highlighted the party’s alleged unfair treatment of the late Union Minister Suresh Angadi’s family, pointing out that despite Mangala Angadi’s success in a by-election for the Belgaum parliamentary constituency following her husband’s death, the party opted not to nominate her for the upcoming elections. Suresh Angadi had been a four-time winner from Belgaum, making this decision particularly controversial.

Furthermore, Savadi shed light on the situation involving Jagadish Shettar, a former Chief Minister, suggesting that he has been unfairly used by the party. According to Savadi, there exists a faction within the BJP intent on sacrificing certain leaders by placing them in challenging electoral battles, with Shettar being one such example.

The former Deputy Chief Minister also mentioned that there were several qualified and well-connected aspirants within the district who had been actively preparing for the possibility of a nomination. However, these individuals were seemingly overlooked in favor of a strategy that Savadi implies does not favor the party’s or the individuals’ best interests.

This unfolding drama within the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections reveals underlying tensions and disputes regarding candidate selection, pointing to broader issues of political strategy and internal party dynamics.
