Congress Leader Calls for BJP Resignation Over Rajasthan Seat Losses

Tika Ram Jully demands BJP leaders' resignation on moral grounds after Congress narrows the gap in Rajasthan, winning 8 seats compared to BJP's 14.

The Aryavarth Express
Agency (New Delhi): Rajasthan Leader of Opposition and Congress leader Tika Ram Jully criticized the BJP on June 5, asserting that those who claimed they would win all 25 seats in the state should resign on moral grounds. This follows the BJP’s reduced performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

“We had expected to win around 14-15 seats. I still want to say that people in Rajasthan supported us. We lost one or two seats by a small margin. The people who said they would win by 25-0 and with a margin of more than 5 lakhs should resign on moral grounds,” said Tika Ram Jully.

Jully also criticized the current Rajasthan government, led by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, for scrapping policies initiated by the previous Congress-led administration, suggesting it would face consequences for these actions.

Crediting everyone for Congress’ victory in 11 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan, Jully stated, “Congress collectively fought the elections. The people voted for us because they are watching everything and they know everything.”

In Rajasthan, the BJP won 14 out of 25 seats, while the Congress secured eight seats. The CPI (M), Rashtriya Loktantrik Party, and Bharat Adivasi Party each clinched one seat. This contrasts with the 2019 elections, where the BJP secured 24 seats and the Congress failed to win any.

Key victories for the BJP included Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal in Bikaner, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav in Alwar, Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in Jodhpur, and Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla in Kota. Meanwhile, Congress candidate Murari Lal Meena won in Dausa, Brijendra Singh Ola in Jhunjhunu, Harish Chandra Meena in Tonk Sawai Madhopur, and Ummeda Ram Beniwal in Barmer.

Voting for Rajasthan’s 25 seats was conducted in the first and second phases on April 19 and 26, respectively.
