Agency(Saharanpur): In the final hours before the campaign for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections concluded, Priyanka Gandhi, Congress General Secretary, energized supporters with a roadshow in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. She was there to promote Imran Masood, the INDIA bloc candidate, emphasizing a message of change and unity against the backdrop of economic issues such as unemployment and inflation.

The approximately 2-kilometer roadshow traversed through densely populated areas, starting from Jain Bagh and moving past notable landmarks before concluding near the Qutub Sher police station. The route was strategically chosen to pass through localities with a significant Muslim demographic, showcasing the diverse support for the Congress party.

Gandhi, dressed in a pink saree, rode atop an open vehicle alongside Masood, greeting the large crowds with gestures of acknowledgment and waving at onlookers, which included women in burqas. The atmosphere was festive, with the Congress tricolour flags and Samajwadi Party flags visible among the supporters, adding to the collaborative spirit of the event.

Although plans included a visit to the local Gurudwara, administrative decisions prevented this part of the itinerary. Despite this, Gandhi took to social media to express her gratitude for the warm reception and the vibrant display of support, interpreting it as a sign of the anticipated political shift.

Local residents expressed their enthusiasm by showering the leaders with flowers and confetti, while security measures were robustly enforced to ensure the event proceeded smoothly. This roadshow marks a crucial moment for the Congress party as it seeks to consolidate support and foster hope among voters disenchanted by the current economic challenges under the BJP’s governance.
