Priyanka Gandhi Accuses BJP of Undermining Constitution and Institutions

Priyanka Gandhi alleges BJP aims to change the Constitution, weaken institutions, and prioritize billionaires over the common people, urging voters to support Congress.

Agency (New Delhi): Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accused the BJP-led central government of being determined to change the Constitution and weaken institutions like Parliament and the judiciary. Speaking at rallies in Godda and Ranchi, Jharkhand, she criticized the government for its alleged anti-tribal policies and prioritizing the interests of billionaires over common people.

Addressing supporters, Vadra claimed that the BJP’s return to power would result in significant constitutional changes and a reduction in reservations. “They weakened democracy in the last 10 years, as well as institutions like Parliament and judiciary,” she alleged.

Vadra emphasized that the Congress party’s policies focus on strengthening the rights of tribals and the common people. “Unlike the BJP government, the Congress’ policies are aimed at strengthening the rights of tribals,” she said.

She also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of targeting former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren with false cases, aiming to weaken the opposition. “PM Modi put former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren behind bars in false cases and his wife Kalpana is fighting like a lioness,” Vadra stated. She added that despite these challenges, the tribal community has emerged stronger.

Highlighting economic disparities, Vadra claimed the BJP government waived Rs 16 lakh crore of loans for billionaires while failing to provide relief to indebted farmers. She alleged that capitalists are exploiting Jharkhand’s natural resources, specifically mentioning the Adani Group’s power plant in Godda, which she claimed benefits billionaires rather than the local poor population.

Vadra criticized the prime minister for allegedly accepting a Rs 52 crore donation from a Covid vaccine manufacturer, claiming the vaccine caused adverse reactions. She further alleged that the BJP aims to cut down reservations and change the Constitution to benefit the wealthy.

Addressing the issue of unemployment, Vadra claimed that 70 crore youths are jobless due to the BJP’s policies and accused BJP candidates of neglecting their constituencies in favor of capitalists. “Your land, your water… has been given to PM’s billionaire friend Adani,” she charged.

At a rally in Ranchi, Vadra asserted that while Modi takes credit for missions like Chandrayaan 3, he neglects the engineers at Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) who have not been paid for two years. She accused the Modi government of ignoring key issues like inflation, unemployment, and rising prices, while focusing on toppling elected governments.

Vadra also criticized the media, claiming that most outlets are owned by billionaires who only project positive images of the government’s development efforts while ignoring the struggles of the common people. She highlighted incidents like the Hathras and Unnao rape cases and the protests by women wrestlers, questioning the prime minister’s silence on these issues.

She concluded by asserting that the Congress’s manifesto, ‘Nyay Patra,’ aims to address the injustices faced by the people over the past decade, contrasting it with what she called the BJP’s focus on benefiting the wealthy. She accused Modi of dishonesty, stating, “He is honest but cannot talk honestly about your issues, cannot honestly say how many jobs he gave.”

Vadra’s speeches aim to rally support for the Congress by highlighting the BJP’s alleged failures and proposing a governance model focused on justice and equality for all.
