PM Modi Faces Congress Challenge: Probe Ambani and Adani

Congress challenges PM Modi to investigate corruption allegations involving Ambani and Adani.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Modi

Agency (New Delhi): The Congress party has issued a direct challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to leverage his investigative agencies, such as the CBI and ED, to probe allegations against prominent businessmen Ambani and Adani. These allegations involve the distribution of black money in large quantities.

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate expressed that this was the first time Prime Minister Modi appeared vulnerable and desperate. She highlighted that Modi’s recent claims of corruption involving Ambani and Adani marked a significant revelation, pointing out that Rahul Gandhi has been vocal about these issues for a decade. Shrinate questioned why Modi had not acted against these businessmen earlier and urged him to initiate investigations using agencies like the CBI, ED, and Income Tax Department.

On Wednesday, during a Lok Sabha poll campaign, Modi accused the Congress of striking a deal with Ambani and Adani, implying that the party received “tempo loads of black money” to stop Rahul Gandhi from criticizing them. Shrinate noted that this acknowledgment from Modi showed an unprecedented level of weakness and desperation.

“Prime Minister Modi has never been so weak and helpless,” Shrinate said. “Yesterday, he courageously admitted to corruption in the country. This courage was inspired by Rahul Gandhi, who fearlessly exposes corruption and speaks against the corrupt with vigor.”

Shrinate challenged Modi to act on his revelations, asking him to conduct raids and investigations against Ambani and Adani. She criticized the media and investigative agencies for their silence and urged them not to fear repercussions. She assured that the Congress would support such investigations.

Several Congress leaders took to social media, demanding Modi order an investigation following his allegations. Shrinate also aimed to reassure the public, stating that Congress would create millions of ‘lakhpatis’ (millionaires) as opposed to Modi’s creation of 22 billionaires.

Shrinate claimed that Modi’s statements on corruption had shaken the BJP and the government. She alleged that officials following Modi’s directives are now apprehensive, recognizing that a change in government is imminent.

“The writing on the wall is clear. The BJP will not form the government on June 4, and Narendra Modi will not become prime minister again,” she asserted, suggesting this was evident from the initial three phases of polling.

Modi’s narrative on the ‘Ambani-Adani’ issue marked a shift, accusing Congress of ceasing their criticism due to a possible ‘deal.’ He questioned why the Congress, which had been vocal for five years, suddenly stopped and implied it was because they received significant amounts of black money.

“Certainly, something is fishy. For five years, they abused Adani and Ambani, and it stopped overnight. It means you have received some tempo loads of ‘chori ka maal’ (stolen goods),” Modi said, demanding Congress explain their actions to the nation.
