Pawan Khera Raises Concerns Over Ignored CAG Corruption Reports

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera questions the lack of action by CBI and ED on CAG reports alleging corruption in government projects, highlighting concerns over constitutional integrity ahead of the 2024 elections.

The Aryavarth Express
Agency(New Delhi): At a press conference in Nagpur, Congress leader Pawan Khera criticized central investigative agencies for overlooking alleged corruption in government projects as outlined in several Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports. Khera, who serves as the Congress’ national spokesperson, focused on infrastructural projects under the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, such as the Bharatmala Pariyojana and the Dwarka Expressway.

Khera highlighted irregularities, including the issuance of bonds worth Rs 1 lakh crore without the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs’ approval and reckless borrowing by the National Highway Authority of India. He questioned the inaction of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), contrasting it with the uproar over similar allegations during Congress’s tenure.

The Congress leader also touched upon broader political issues, including claims by some BJP leaders about changing the Constitution should they secure 400 seats in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, posing a threat to its survival.

Khera’s comments reflect the Congress party’s strategy of focusing on governance and constitutional integrity issues, as they present a “positive agenda” including promises of ‘nyay’ (justice) by party leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi.
