Agency(Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sharply criticized the Congress party for its alleged intentions to impose an inheritance tax on Indian citizens. During a rally in Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh, Modi claimed that Congress’s proposed tax would prevent parents from bequeathing their hard-earned assets to their children, painting the policy as part of broader “dangerous intentions” that have come to light.
The Prime Minister’s comments follow remarks by Sam Pitroda, a Congress advisor, who suggested that more taxes should be levied on the middle class and those who work hard. Modi used these statements to argue that Congress’s policies would excessively tax the living and burden the deceased with an inheritance tax, thereby seizing assets from future generations.
Modi further accused Congress of being “vote bank hungry” and attempting to implement religious-based reservations, which he contrasted with the BJP’s commitment to constitutional values and social justice as envisioned by Ambedkar. He referenced historical efforts by Congress to introduce religious reservations in Andhra Pradesh as an example of the party’s broader ambitions to alter the nation’s constitutional framework and shift benefits away from SCs, STs, and OBCs to its own electoral base.
This fierce critique comes as both parties intensify their campaigns for the upcoming elections, with Modi positioning the BJP as the protector of constitutional integrity and the rightful interests of traditional reservation beneficiaries.
