Lok Sabha Speaker Urges Meaningful Discussions for Increased Dignity in Legislatures

New Delhi (Agency): Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla stressed the importance of meaningful discussions and dialogues in the legislature during his address on Tuesday at the valedictory session of the India Region Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. Birla’s statement underscores the belief that substantive discussions on significant issues will enhance the dignity and prestige of legislative bodies.

According to Birla, people’s representatives hold a crucial responsibility to echo the hopes and aspirations of their voters, and to address their problems by presenting them to the government. He firmly believes that instead of creating disruptions in the House, representatives should utilize legislatures as platforms to fulfill the desires and expectations of the people.

In an age where digital technology can enhance the efficiency and ease of legislative work, Birla also advocated its use for this purpose. He emphasized that digital technology could play a vital role in improving the overall effectiveness of the legislative process.
