Kharge Dismisses BJP’s ‘400 Seats’ Claim as ‘Nonsense’

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge dismisses BJP's claim of winning over 400 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, predicting they won't cross 200 seats.

The Aryavarth Express
Agency (New Delhi): Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has labeled the BJP’s assertion of winning over 400 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as “bakwas” or nonsense, confidently predicting that the BJP will not surpass 200 seats.

Speaking to the media in Amritsar, Kharge highlighted the declining number of BJP seats compared to previous elections, while emphasizing the growing strength of the Congress and the INDIA bloc. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has been optimistic about securing over 400 seats in the elections, a claim Kharge staunchly refuted.

Challenging the basis of the BJP’s claim, Kharge questioned, “When your seats are declining and ours are increasing, how can you claim ‘400 paar’? It is ‘bakwas’. They cannot even form the government and will not go beyond 200 seats.”

Kharge pointed out that the BJP is virtually “non-existent” in states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Telangana, and is “not strong” in Karnataka. He further stated that the BJP is weak in Maharashtra and faces stiff competition in West Bengal and Odisha. “How are you getting 400 seats?” he asked rhetorically.

Kharge also addressed the issue of job vacancies, promising that the 30 lakh vacancies in the central government would be filled if the INDIA bloc comes to power. On tackling drug addiction among youth, he assured that significant measures would be implemented to combat the problem.

Responding to BJP’s accusation that the Congress manifesto bears the imprint of the Muslim League, Kharge retorted, “Modi does not look at our manifesto or read it. If he finds the imprint of the Muslim League in this, we will send someone from the Congress office to help explain it to him.” He emphasized that the Congress manifesto is dedicated to addressing the needs of youth, farmers, laborers, and the weaker sections of society.

Kharge’s remarks come at a time of intense political campaigning, setting the stage for a fiercely contested Lok Sabha election.
