Mayor Gurjar also stated her intention to present her case before the women's commission, indicating that she believes there are additional aspects to the situation that need to be considered.

Jaipur (Agency): An FIR (First Information Report) has been registered against Mayor Munesh Gurjar of Jaipur Heritage Municipal Corporation and several Congress councilors for their alleged actions of deterring a senior officer from performing his duties, according to the police. The case was filed based on a complaint by Additional Commissioner Rajendra Verma.

The development follows a recent incident in which Mayor Gurjar and the Congress councilors staged a dharna (sit-in protest) against the officer, accusing him of refusing to clear a file related to sanitation work and mistreating them. In response to the complaint filed by Additional Commissioner Verma, the FIR was registered against the mayor, Deputy Mayor Aslam Farukhi, and approximately a dozen others.

The charges mentioned in the FIR include IPC sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 333 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter a public servant from his duty), and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty). Additionally, the case has been registered under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

In response to the charges, Mayor Gurjar stated her intention to file a complaint against Verma. She also expressed her plan to meet with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and the Congress-in-charge for Rajasthan, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, to address the situation. Mayor Gurjar claimed that the additional commissioner filed the complaint against them to divert attention from his own alleged corruption and misdeeds. She further mentioned that the agitation against Verma had been temporarily suspended after assurances from Randhawa, but now that an FIR has been registered against them, she will proceed with filing a complaint against him.

Mayor Gurjar also stated her intention to present her case before the women’s commission, indicating that she believes there are additional aspects to the situation that need to be considered.

The filing of the FIR against the mayor and Congress councilors marks a significant development in the ongoing dispute between the officials. The allegations and counter-allegations highlight the tense environment surrounding the incident and the need for a thorough investigation to determine the facts and ensure justice is served.
