Agency(Andhra Pradesh): YSR Congress Party leader and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, has officially commenced his election campaign with a 21-day bus journey titled ‘Memanta Siddham’ (‘We are all ready’), starting from Idupulupaya in Kadapa district. This campaign initiative marks Reddy’s first extensive public engagement following the Election Commission’s announcement of the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha election dates.

The tour began on a reflective note, with Reddy paying homage to his father, the late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, at his grave in Idupulupaya. He offered flowers at his father’s statue before embarking on the day’s journey. The bus route for the opening day included stops in several villages and towns across the constituencies of Kamalapuram, Jammalamadugu, and Proddatur, culminating in a public meeting on the Proddatur bypass road and an overnight stay in Allagadda, Nandyala district.

Reddy’s campaign bus will traverse a total of 21 districts and 148 Assembly constituencies, concluding its journey in Icchapuram, Srikakulam district, in the northern part of Andhra Pradesh. This ambitious tour aims to facilitate direct dialogue between the Chief Minister and the electorate, offering a platform for public meetings and personal interactions across the state.

The initial leg of the tour is dedicated to the Rayalaseema region, covering six districts including Kadapa, Kurnool, Annamayya, Tirupati, and Chittoor. The YSRCP has planned daily election meetings throughout the bus tour to underscore the party’s preparedness for the elections in every district and Parliamentary constituency. The strategy also involves organizing meetings in at least two Assembly segments within each Lok Sabha constituency.

In addition to these plans, Reddy is set to spend nights in various locales along the tour route, further emphasizing his commitment to engaging with communities and understanding their concerns firsthand. This campaign approach follows a series of large-scale ‘Siddham’ election rallies that Reddy led in Bheemili, Eluru, Anantapur, and Medarametla, covering significant portions of the state.

With the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh scheduled for May 13 and the vote count on June 4, Reddy’s ‘Memanta Siddham’ bus tour represents a pivotal moment in the YSRCP’s efforts to connect with voters and solidify its standing ahead of the electoral contests.
