Smriti Irani criticizes Congress for inconsistent alliances and political posturing across different states.

Agency(Kerala): Union Minister and BJP leader Smriti Irani took a pointed dig at Congress concerning its political maneuvers in Kerala, contrasting its alliances in different states. During a discussion with businessmen in Bengaluru, Irani highlighted the contradictory political stances of the Congress and Left parties, stating, “In Wayanad, they’re in conflict. The Left suggests Rahul Gandhi should contest from Uttar Pradesh, yet in Delhi, during the INDIA bloc meeting, they warmly embrace him.”

Irani’s remarks, “Delhi mein hugging, Kerala mein begging,” underscored her view of the Congress party’s desperate strategies in various regions, adding, “In Karnataka, it’s ‘Delhi mein hugging, Kerala mein begging, Karnataka mein thugging.'”

Further emphasizing the role of women in politics, the former actress urged female voters to participate actively in the electoral process, stressing that voting is a serious responsibility beyond the trivialities depicted in television dramas. She criticized the Gandhi family for what she described as superficial engagement with the public, using their image to mislead voters.

This comes amidst a tense electoral battle in Wayanad, Kerala, where despite being part of the same opposition INDIA bloc, the Communist Party of India (CPI) has positioned Annie Raja against Rahul Gandhi, who had previously won the seat with a significant margin in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Kerala, a stronghold for Congress, is critical as it sends 20 MPs to Parliament, highlighting the intense competition and strategic posturing prevalent in Indian politics.
