Indian Youth Congress Initiates “Bharat Jodo” Leadership Program for 2024 Elections

The Indian Youth Congress launches the Bharat Jodo leadership program to engage young individuals in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, marking the anniversary of the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

New Delhi (Agency): On September 7, 2023, the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) introduced the Bharat Jodo leadership program. This initiative aims to involve the youth in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The program was launched to commemorate the first anniversary of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, a journey across India promoting unity and social harmony.

To celebrate the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the IYC has planned various events for the next three months. These activities will include padayatras (foot marches), cultural programs, photo exhibitions, sports events, and blood donation camps. The program is set to happen at both the state and district levels.

“As per the directions of the All India Congress Committee, the Youth Congress will organize Bharat Jodo Padayatra at the state level and district level. We will set up ‘Mohabbat ki Dukaan’ at state level and district level and will organize social and cultural programs as well,” an official statement from the IYC mentioned.

The statement also said the Youth Congress would host a “Speak Up for Bharat Jodo” event to spread the message of unity and harmony to the wider public. The initiative will focus on instilling values of unity and compassion among the youth, encouraging them to take an active role in the political landscape of the country.

The original Bharat Jodo Yatra was launched on this day in 2022 in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, the southernmost point of India. The journey concluded in Srinagar on January 30 of this year. The Yatra was a significant endeavor by the Congress to bring together various communities and highlight the importance of unity in a diverse country like India.

The Bharat Jodo leadership program by the IYC underscores the rising significance of youth involvement in Indian politics. The initiative aims to equip young individuals with the knowledge and skills they need to become active participants in the electoral process, thereby shaping the future of the nation.
