Agency (New Delhi): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has opposed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s bail plea in connection to the money laundering case tied to the now-scrapped liquor policy. The ED argued before the Delhi Court that Kejriwal’s active participation in the ongoing Lok Sabha election campaign indicates that his health is not a valid reason for bail.

Kejriwal had previously moved the court seeking both interim and regular bail. The court has deferred its decision on Kejriwal’s bail plea until June 1.

During the hearing at Rouse Avenue Court, the ED highlighted Kejriwal’s current campaigning efforts in Punjab, asserting that his health has not prevented him from engaging in strenuous activities. The agency contended, “His conduct does not entitle him to any bail,” and pointed out that Kejriwal’s last-minute bail plea reflects poorly on his intentions.

The court has issued a notice to the ED, directing the agency to respond to Kejriwal’s bail plea by June Additionally, the court requested the ED’s response regarding Kejriwal’s interim bail request on medical grounds, should the regular bail not be granted.

Kejriwal’s counsel proposed that the hearing be scheduled for the morning of June 1, but later agreed to a 2 pm slot due to a family engagement. The Supreme Court previously declined Kejriwal’s request for a seven-day extension of his interim bail in the liquor policy case.

Kejriwal was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court on May 10 and released from Tihar Jail. He has been ordered to surrender by June Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 by the ED following questioning at his Delhi residence.
