Agency(New Delhi): Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a request for a personal meeting to explain the objectives of the party’s ‘Nyay Patra’. On Thursday, Kharge penned a two-page letter expressing his concerns over the Prime Minister’s advisors allegedly misinforming him about the Congress manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections.

The ‘Nyay Patra’ is designed to deliver justice to various social groups including youngsters, women, farmers, laborers, and marginalized communities across all castes. Kharge criticized the Prime Minister for supposedly taking words out of context to foster communal tension and undermining the prestige of his office.

Kharge’s letter accused Modi of making public statements based on these misconceptions. “I would be more than happy to meet you in person to explain our ‘Nyay Patra’ so that, as prime minister of the country, you don’t make any statements that are false,” Kharge wrote.

Furthermore, Kharge expressed dismay at the language Modi used in recent speeches and suggested it was a reaction to the BJP’s poor performance in the early phases of the elections. He contrasted the Congress’s focus on the needy with the BJP’s policies, which he claimed favored corporations over the working poor. Kharge argued that the government’s tax policies disproportionately affected the less affluent, highlighting the broader issue of economic inequality in India.

Kharge also addressed religious inclusivity, emphasizing that the Congress manifesto caters to all Indians, irrespective of their faith, and critiqued Modi’s historical political associations. This letter underscores the ongoing tensions and the critical discourse surrounding equity and governance as India progresses through its electoral phases.
