Congress Leader Foresees Democracy at Risk

Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra cautions against a potential decline in democracy and the election process if PM Modi is re-elected.

The Aryavarth Express
Agency (Rajasthan): In a striking statement made on Thursday, Govind Singh Dotasra, the President of Rajasthan Congress, voiced his concerns about the future of democracy in India. He warned that the re-election of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections could lead to a scenario where democratic processes and elections might cease to exist. Dotasra made these remarks while addressing party workers in Dausa, Rajasthan.

Highlighting the accomplishments of the previous Congress administration, Dotasra lamented that despite their efforts, the party failed to secure victory in the last year’s Assembly elections. He expressed urgency in addressing the current direction of the country, fearing a drift towards authoritarian rule, similar to the situation in Pakistan, where decisions could be made behind closed doors about key political positions.

Dotasra urged the nation to reflect on its current trajectory and consider whether it was regressing to a state of subjugation and dictatorship. He highlighted concerns about the increasing gap between the rich and the poor and the perceived threat to democratic freedoms. His call to action included questioning the BJP-led Modi government about their promises on employment generation, income doubling, women empowerment, and economic policy improvements made before the elections.

Echoing Dotasra’s sentiments, Tikaram Jully, the Leader of the Opposition, spoke about the prevailing tense atmosphere across the country, which he believes could lead to regrettable consequences for future generations. Jully criticized the current government for diverting public attention away from unfulfilled promises such as creating two crore jobs annually, repatriating black money, and doubling farmers’ income. He pointed out the rising unemployment rate, increase in black money stashed abroad, growth in beef exports, and the ongoing struggles of farmers on the roads, as stark contrasts to the government’s commitments.
