BJP Triumphs in Arunachal Pradesh with Majority Win

BJP wins 46 out of 60 seats in Arunachal Pradesh Assembly, securing a third consecutive term in power. PM Modi thanks voters for their support.

Agency (Arunachal Pradesh): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a third consecutive term in Arunachal Pradesh by winning 46 seats in the 60-member assembly, Election Commission officials reported on Sunday. The votes were counted for 50 assembly segments, with elections held concurrently with the Lok Sabha polls on April 19. The remaining 10 seats were won by the BJP uncontested.

Out of the 50 seats contested, the BJP claimed 36 seats, with Chief Minister Pema Khandu among the 10 candidates who won unopposed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude on social media platform X, thanking the people of Arunachal Pradesh for their overwhelming support and reaffirming the party’s commitment to the state’s development.

“Thank you Arunachal Pradesh! The people of this wonderful state have given an unequivocal mandate to politics of development. My gratitude to them for reposing their faith in @BJP4Arunachal yet again. Our Party will keep working with even greater vigour for the state’s growth,” Modi said. He also praised the dedication of BJP Karyakartas during the election campaign, acknowledging their efforts in connecting with the electorate across the state.

In the 2019 elections, the BJP had won 41 seats. This year, the National People’s Party (NPP) secured five seats, the People’s Party of Arunachal won two seats, and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) obtained three seats. The Congress party won one seat, while Independent candidates triumphed in three constituencies.
