BJP Issues Show-Cause Notice to J&K Unit Vice President for “Anti-Party” Activities

Sofi Yousuf, Vice President of BJP's Jammu and Kashmir unit, receives a show-cause notice amid rumors of mass resignations in the party. He is also barred from speaking to the media.

New Delhi (Agency): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) issued a show-cause notice to Sofi Yousuf, the Vice President of its Jammu and Kashmir unit, for engaging in “anti-party” activities. This action comes in the backdrop of reports that several leaders from the party in the Kashmir valley had planned a mass resignation last month.

The notice stated that Yousuf, despite being a senior leader, had shown “marked indiscipline” in his political activities. Sunil Sethi, the chairperson of the disciplinary committee, also accused Yousuf of causing division within the party ranks.

“Your audio recording clip has surfaced whose content shows that you have no regard for party discipline and high principles, which are the basis of the political ideology of the party,” Sethi said in the notice.

Yousuf has been given seven days to reply to the show-cause notice and explain why action should not be taken against him. In addition, the notice bars him from interacting with the media, either directly or indirectly, on any issue, including the ongoing proceedings, until further notice.

The issuing of this notice has raised questions about the internal unity and discipline within the BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit. Reports of planned mass resignations last month have already sparked concerns about the stability of the party in the region.

The party’s central leadership is keenly watching the situation unfold, as the turmoil could have wider implications for the BJP, which is one of India’s two major national political parties. As the clock ticks down for Yousuf’s seven-day reply period, the public and party members alike are eager to see how the matter will be resolved.
