BJP Gains Momentum as BSP and Congress Leaders Shift in Madhya Pradesh

Former Lok Sabha member Ramlakhan Singh from the BSP, along with ex-Congress MLA Neelesh Awasthi and former legislator Ajay Yadav, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh.

The Aryavarth Express
Agency (Madhya Pradesh): In a significant development, former BSP leader Ramlakhan Singh, along with ex-Congress members Neelesh Awasthi and Ajay Yadav, shifted their allegiance to the BJP in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav hailed their decision, attributing it to the BJP’s ideology and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

Singh’s return to the BJP marks his third stint with the party, having previously joined and left the organization. This move underscores a broader trend of Congress leaders defecting to the BJP, a strategy aimed at strengthening the ruling party’s position in the state ahead of the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

BJP leaders have set ambitious targets for inducting Congress members, particularly in regions like Chhindwara, the stronghold of former Chief Minister Kamal Nath. With a specific goal of assimilating 50,000 Congress workers from Chhindwara alone, the BJP aims to reclaim all 29 parliamentary seats in the state.

State BJP chief VD Sharma asserts that the Congress is witnessing a mass exodus at various levels, with significant numbers of workers and leaders joining the BJP fold. He predicts that at least 1 lakh Congress members statewide will switch sides before the conclusion of polling.

Meanwhile, state Congress chief Jitu Patwari criticizes party defectors, suggesting that they have no political future after switching allegiances. However, the BJP remains undeterred in its efforts to expand its base and consolidate support ahead of the electoral contest in Madhya Pradesh.

The ongoing political realignment underscores the competitive landscape in Madhya Pradesh, with both major parties vying for supremacy and seeking to capitalize on shifting political dynamics.
