AIADMK announces its final list of Lok Sabha candidates, featuring diverse professionals and setting the stage for an intense electoral battle in Tamil Nadu.

The Aryavarth Express
Agency(Tamil Nadu): The AIADMK has unveiled its final roster of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, marking a significant step in its preparation for the electoral contest scheduled for April 19. This announcement includes a notable array of professionals, such as a woman lawyer who previously competed against the late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, adding depth and diversity to the party’s electoral bid.

Out of the 32 constituencies in Tamil Nadu where AIADMK will compete, the party has revealed 16 new candidates, bringing the total number of medical professionals among its nominees to five. This strategic selection underscores the party’s commitment to representing a wide range of societal interests and professions.

Edappadi K Palaniswami, the party chief, is poised to commence his election campaign in Tiruchirappalli on March 24, following the completion of the candidate nomination process and the allocation of seats to alliance partners. The AIADMK’s decision to contest in 32 segments, leaving seven to its allies, demonstrates a collaborative approach within the political landscape of Tamil Nadu, which boasts a total of 39 Lok Sabha constituencies.

Among the newly announced candidates is Simla Muthuchozhan, a former DMK member who joined AIADMK and will now contest from the Tirunelveli constituency. Muthuchozhan’s candidacy is particularly notable as she represents the only woman candidate put forward by AIADMK for the Lok Sabha elections, highlighting the party’s inclusive approach.

In comparison, the ruling DMK has allocated tickets to three women candidates out of the 21 Lok Sabha seats it is contesting, showcasing a broader trend of increasing female representation in Tamil Nadu’s political arena.

AIADMK’s strategy also includes nominating candidates for key constituencies such as Sriperumbudur and Vellore, where it has positioned medical professionals G Premkumar and S Pasupathi, respectively. This approach not only diversifies the party’s candidate profile but also pits it against notable DMK nominees in these regions.

As the Lok Sabha elections draw near, AIADMK’s comprehensive candidate list and campaign preparations set the stage for a closely contested battle in Tamil Nadu. The party’s efforts to blend professional expertise with political experience reflect a dynamic approach to addressing the diverse needs and aspirations of the state’s electorate.
