New Delhi:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the national programme marking ‘Veer Baal Diwas’ on December 26 at around 12:15 pm at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital. The Prime Minister will also address the gathering on the occasion, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.
To commemorate Veer Baal Diwas, the Government of India is organising participative programmes across the country to educate citizens about the extraordinary courage and supreme sacrifice of the Sahibzades, and to honour the valour and bravery of young heroes in Indian history. These activities include storytelling sessions, recitations, poster-making competitions and essay-writing events.
The programmes will be conducted in schools, child care institutions, Anganwadi centres and other educational platforms, along with online activities through the MyGov and MyBharat portals.
Prime Minister Modi had announced the observance of Veer Baal Diwas on December 26 during the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji on January 9, 2022. The day commemorates the martyrdom of Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, the young sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, whose sacrifice continues to inspire generations.
Awardees of the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar will also be present at the programme.
