New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on his Jayanti, remembering him as a visionary leader, skilled administrator, strategic thinker, and a champion of ‘Swarajya’.
In a message shared on X, the Prime Minister said Shivaji Maharaj’s courage continues to inspire the nation, his model of governance remains a guiding light, and his spirit of justice and self-respect strengthens society even today. He emphasised that Shivaji Maharaj consistently prioritised the welfare of his people and devoted himself to their protection, making his life a timeless source of inspiration for generations.
“On the Jayanti of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, we bow in reverence to the visionary leader, exceptional administrator, strategic thinker and champion of Swarajya. May his courage inspire us, his governance guide us and his spirit of justice and self-respect strengthen our society,” the Prime Minister stated.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled an equestrian statue of Shivaji Maharaj in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The nearly 21-foot-tall statue has been installed by Maharashtra Samaj Gandhinagar.
Speaking at the event, Shah described the unveiling as a matter of pride for the people of Gandhinagar. He said the grand statue would serve as a lasting source of inspiration, especially for the youth.
Highlighting Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy as the founder of ‘Hindavi Swaraj’, Shah said his life and achievements would remain relevant for generations to come and that the nation would always be indebted to his unparalleled contributions.
He also reflected on the historical context in which Shivaji Maharaj rose to prominence, noting that during a period marked by foreign rule and widespread subjugation, his leadership rekindled hope and laid the foundation for self-rule.
