New Delhi:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended Army Day greetings to Indian Army personnel, saluting their courage, dedication and selfless service to the nation. Marking the 78th Army Day, the Prime Minister also paid homage to soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

In a post on X, PM Modi said the Indian Army stands as a symbol of unwavering resolve, often operating under the most challenging conditions. He noted that the soldiers’ sense of duty inspires confidence and gratitude across the country, adding that the nation remembers with deep respect those who made the supreme sacrifice.

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan also conveyed Army Day greetings to all ranks, veterans, families and veer naris. Highlighting the Army’s legacy of valour and sacrifice, he described it as the cornerstone of India’s defence architecture. Referring to Operation Sindoor, the CDS said the Army once again demonstrated unyielding courage and tactical brilliance in overcoming both external and internal challenges.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi extended warm wishes to serving personnel, veterans, veer matas, veer naris, defence civilians and their families. In his message, he honoured the bravehearts who laid down their lives in the service of the nation.

As part of the celebrations, the Indian Army is holding a grand parade in Jaipur, marking the first time the event is being conducted outside a cantonment area. The parade at Mahal Road, Jagatpura, will showcase a wide array of weapons, vehicles, drones and advanced defence systems.

The event will also feature the first public appearance of the newly raised Bhairav Battalion, formed under the Army’s recent restructuring and shaped by operational lessons from global conflicts, including Operation Sindoor.

Army Day is observed annually on January 15 to commemorate Field Marshal KM Cariappa taking over as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army in 1949, succeeding British General Sir FRR Bucher.
