New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tesla CEO Elon Musk held a telephonic conversation on Friday, reaffirming their shared interest in strengthening cooperation in the fields of technology and innovation. The discussion built on the topics the two leaders had previously addressed during their meeting in Washington, DC, earlier this year.
In a post on social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “Spoke to @elonmusk and talked about various issues, including the topics we covered during our meeting in Washington DC earlier this year. We discussed the immense potential for collaboration in the areas of technology and innovation. India remains committed to advancing our partnerships with the US in these domains.”
During their in-person meeting in February at Blair House, Washington, PM Modi and Musk explored opportunities for collaboration between Indian and US organisations in areas such as artificial intelligence, space exploration, innovation, and sustainable development.
Musk, who also heads the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), was joined by three of his children during the February meeting. PM Modi shared that the discussion also included emerging technologies, entrepreneurship, and governance reforms, noting India’s commitment to “Minimum Government, Maximum Governance”.
Reflecting on the meeting, PM Modi posted, X: “Had a very good meeting with @elonmusk in Washington DC. We discussed various issues, including those he is passionate about, such as space, mobility, technology and innovation.” He also mentioned his interaction with Musk’s children, calling it a “delight”.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the conversation highlighted mutual interest in deepening collaboration between the two nations, particularly in futuristic and high-impact sectors.
