Alluri Sitarama Raju District, Andhra Pradesh – In a touching gesture of empathy and care, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party (JSP) President Pawan Kalyan won the hearts of residents in Pedapadu village, Dumbriguda Mandal, by sending footwear to every single villager.
During his recent two-day tour of the Araku and Dumbriguda regions, the Deputy CM visited Pedapadu village to understand local issues firsthand. While interacting with the villagers, Pawan Kalyan noticed that an elderly woman named Pangi Mithu—and several other women—were barefoot.
Deeply moved by their condition, he enquired about the village population. Upon learning that the village had around 350 residents, he immediately directed his office to deliver footwear to all of them. The footwear was quickly distributed, bringing joy and gratitude across the village.
Emotional villagers praised the Deputy CM, saying, “Our Pawan sir came and recognised our struggles. No other leader has ever paid attention to us like this.” Residents of not just Pedapadu, but the entire Dumbriguda Mandal, extended heartfelt thanks to Pawan Kalyan for his compassion and swift action.
Jana Sena Backs Waqf Amendment Bill, Pledges Support in Parliament
Earlier this week, the Jana Sena Party also voiced its full support for the Waqf Amendment Bill, introduced by the central government in the Lok Sabha. Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan instructed all JSP Members of Parliament to participate in the voting process and support the bill, which is aimed at modernising the Waqf Act.
According to a statement from the party, “The central government is bringing in the Waqf Amendment Bill to benefit the Muslim community, and the Jana Sena Party supports this initiative.”
The bill was formulated after a Joint Parliamentary Committee, comprising 31 members, reviewed existing issues and consulted with various stakeholders. It proposes significant updates to the Waqf Act of 1995, which has been under criticism for mismanagement, corruption, and encroachments.
Key amendments include updating definitions, streamlining the registration of waqf properties, renaming the Act, and integrating modern technology for better record-keeping and administration.
Several petitions challenging the current Act are still pending before the Supreme Court, with the next hearing expected to address key interim directions. A final verdict is anticipated soon.
