Agency(Mumbai): The Mumbai police have captured two individuals in connection with a shooting incident that occurred outside the Bandra home of Bollywood star Salman Khan. The arrests occurred on Tuesday in Bhuj, Gujarat. Officials identified the suspects as Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, both hailing from Bihar. They were apprehended in the village of Mata No Madh within Gujarat’s Kutch district following comprehensive technical surveillance by combined teams from Kutch-West and Mumbai police.
The duo, after allegedly fleeing Mumbai post-incident, was extradited to Mumbai where the complaint was filed. Initial investigations revealed that both Gupta and Pal were purportedly contracted by the group led by the imprisoned gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. According to police, Pal executed the shooting while Gupta coordinated with other gang members.
The incident took place early Sunday morning when individuals on a motorcycle discharged firearms outside Galaxy Apartments, where Khan resides. The police recovered four bullet casings and a live round from the scene, emphasizing the premeditated nature of this attack.
Further developments in the investigation revealed that a Facebook post claiming responsibility for the act was traced back to Portugal, suggesting the use of a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to mask the true location of the person who uploaded the post. This post was attributed to Anmol Bishnoi, brother of Lawrence Bishnoi, who termed the act as a “first and last warning”.
In response to the shooting, Mumbai Police has ramped up security measures at Galaxy Apartments, bolstering the actor’s already Y+ category protection by increasing the police presence.
Actor Arbaaz Khan, Salman’s brother, has openly refuted claims suggesting the incident was merely a publicity stunt, previously reported to have been stated by their father Salim Khan. He expressed the family’s shock and concern over the unsettling event.
As a precaution, Salman Khan was seen leaving his residence under heightened security on Monday, which drew significant media attention. Iulia Vantur, a close associate of Salman, was also seen exiting the apartment around the same time.
